MyHM Dentist – Schedule Your Routine Dental Check-up

A beautiful smile is a healthy smile and great oral health starts with a dental check-up. Patients should be sure to make time to visit our dentist here at MyHM Dentist every six months for a dental check-up, in order to help protect their oral health and make sure everything is in tip-top shape.

What Will Happen at My Dental Check-up?

At your first dental check-up, patients will be asked to complete a full dental and medical health history, which helps us to gain a broad understanding of your personal needs. We may also take an x-ray or two which is important to help us see beyond the obvious – such as to help us learn the position of your wisdom teeth or to diagnose an issue that may otherwise go unnoticed.

At every routine dental check-up, dentist Dr Matsuoka will carry out a comprehensive examination of your mouth, gums and teeth. This will include a close look at the health of your soft tissues (tongue and cheeks), testing your gums to look for any early signs of gum disease, and also cleaning your teeth to remove any harmful plaque and tartar. At a dental check-up, patients will also be screened for oral cancer and provided with any guidance and advice on how to improve their dental care.

What are the benefits of having regular dental check-ups?

Your teeth are invaluable, and we believe that early prevention is better than treatment later down the line. Seeing Dr Matsuoka here at MyHM Dentist regularly gives us the chance to spot any early signs of gum disease or tooth decay so we can keep your smile healthy, now and in the future.
A dental check-up also helps to:

● Maintain good oral health
● Prevent mouth cancer and gum disease
● Eliminate halitosis (bad breath)
● Keep your smile looking clean and fresh
● Retain your teeth

How often do I need a dental check-up?

The answer really depends on your individual needs. At your dental check-up, our dentist Dr Matsuoka will advise you how often your teeth need to be checked, as part of your oral care routine. Some patients require a check-up only once or maybe twice a year, while others who have undergone extensive treatment may need to visit us more regularly.
